A/Prof Tony Hall is a Principal Associate at Eye Surgery Associates where he works as an ophthalmologist with special expertise in the management of inflammatory eye disease. He manages patients with uveitis, ocular infections, and ophthalmic manifestations of systemic diseases. He also manages patients with general ophthalmic conditions such as cataract and glaucoma.

Dr Wilson Heriot is a Principal Associate at Eye Surgery Associates where his clinical practice includes both medical and surgical retina. He is particularly involved in the application of treatment advances in age related macular degeneration. The new Lucentis drug which was added to the PBS Scheme in Australia in August 2007 is an example of this. Lucentis is applied by injection and for patients for whom this is appropriate, it is having a tremendous impact on their health and well being.

Associate Professor Julian Rait, a Principal Associate at Eye Surgery, is a glaucoma specialist and an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Melbourne. Associate Professor Rait has been on the staff of the Department since 1991 and has been involved with glaucoma research at CERA since its inception 10 years ago. He has served as a Federal Councillor of RANZCO between 1995 and 2003 and in 2004 was elected to the Council of MDA National, a medical indemnity insurer.

Associate Professor Grant Snibson is a Principal Associate at Eye Surgery Associates where his practice is limited to surgery of the anterior (or front) part of the eye. This includes refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation and surgery for pterygium and other forms of corneal disease. A/Prof Snibson completed his medical and specialist training in Melbourne before undertaking advanced fellowship training at both the Oxford Eye Hospital and Moorfield Eye Hospital in London. After returning to Australia, A/Prof Snibson helped establish one of the first refractive surgery treatment and research centres in the country and has published and lectured internationally on the evolving science of laser vision correction. A/Prof Snibson offers a range of procedures to correct myopia (short-sightedness), hypermetropia (long-sightedness) and astigmatism. These include LASIK, PRK, Refractive Lens Exchange, the Implantable Contact Lens and the AcrySof® Cachet lens implant. A/Prof Snibson also has a research interest in keratoconus and is currently supervising several clinical trials being conducted at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital using Corneal Collagen Cross-linking to treat this condition.

Dr Richard Stawell is a Principal Associate at Eye Surgery Associates. Dr Stawell has a special interest in managing patients with ocular plastics and lacrimal disorders, inflammatory eye disease and general ophthalmology including cataract surgery.
He is the ophthalmologist in charge of the Ocular Immunology Clinic at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

Dr Connell first developed an interest in ophthalmology in 1992 when he undertook a project at the Fred Hollows Foundation in Eritrea, Africa. He then completed his undergraduate studies at the Flinders University of South Australia in 1994.

Dr Justin Friebel’s sub-specialty areas are oculoplastic, eyelid and lacrimal surgery, with a particular interest in scar-less endoscopic lacrimal surgery. This includes eye conditions involving persistent watering eye and lacrimal obstruction problems, eyelid malpositions, ectropion, entropion, ptosis, peri-ocular tumours and skin lesions, facial palsies, and cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Upon her return from overseas training and working as an Ophthalmologist in the USA, Dr Lyndell Lim joined Eye Surgery Associates as an Associate in August 2006 to undertake private practice in the areas of Medical Retina and Ocular inflammatory diseases.

Robin is a general ophthalmologist treating both adult and paediatric patients. She currently has practices at Eye Surgery Associates at Cabrini Hospital, Malvern as well as Broadmeadows Eye and Ear Specialists. She is also a consultant ophthalmologist at Royal Melbourne Hospital. Her main interests are cataract surgery (particularly toric lenses for correction of astigmatism) and anterior segment pathology but she also performs aviation medical ophthalmic examinations, Lucentis injections and is registered to inject Botox for neuro-ophthalmic patients.

Dr Heather Mack heads Visual Electrodiagnostics at Eye Surgery Associates in East Melbourne. She trained in Electrodiagnostics, undertaking a two year Fellowship at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School.
